Depth of thought & action

While Henoko New Base construction has been stopped, There are so many things going on around Okinawa only...

One big thing is an election for prefecture government on early June.
 Onaga prefecture government need to keep their seats or get even more.
 Also National diet election will be held on July this year.



One concern is Japanese Defense Force (JDF) is increasing their presence in Okinawa area. They are planning to set new base on Miyako Island, Ishigaki Island, and already in Yonaguni Island.
They also do joint training with U.S. Forces.

The people in Japan who think that Japan needs U.S. Forces presence & also needs to build up JDF, they see China or North Korea or even Russia as menaces and they think way of a resolution is having a deterrent force for our national security.

And when they hear pacifist speaks about achieving peace without military forces. They point out that is not realistic.

But, what they mean realistic ?

From my point of view, having a military force for deterrent a war is not realistic. It won't deterrent a war and also spending enormous budget for militarizing. Then people's minds are also set to the military mind set.

Greed, Fear and ignorance is a source of making war.

Recently, I saw a movie about Tibetan people who has been suppressed by China.
And I compared the words from Tibetan people and Okinawa people.

Tibetan man & woman tranquility said "I don't bear grudge anymore, but I pray for their better life" or "I have forgiven them, I pray for them to find true path of Buddha" something like these.

Many Okinawan elders speak "We don't want to be a sacrifice of Japan again. Okinawa has been discriminated for more than 70 years. We take Abe administration down" something like these.

I concern that Tibetan people maybe not as strong as Okinawa people's words, but deeper...

Okinawa people now have very strong movement against big power but the depth of the words compare to Tibetan people, or for example Native American etc... Less spiritual...Less Religious...
That what I concern....but I'm not pessimistic for the future of Okinawa. Because, their ancestors are always with them and there are few people who offer the prayer everyday...

Miyako island, Small Okinawa's Small Island

  picture of Miyako island's militarize plan 11 th February “The Symposium for thinking a peace & military bases at North East Asia” was held at Miyako island. 9 people from Korea visited this time. (Pyeongtaek & Jeju island) Pyeongtaek is where biggest U.S. Army base in the world exists. Jeju island where Korean government constructed new Navy base on 2016 at Gangjeong village despite of strong opposition movement. I’d like to tell you what I saw & I felt by coming Miyako island after one year of my last visiting. Last year of January, when I came, there were no buildings at the site of Chiyoda New Japanese Defense Force’s base. Okinawa Today.

Thank you ... Governor Onaga. We will not forget your dedication to Okinawa. Okinawan governor Onaga past away on 8th Aug. He had a pancreas cancer. He was given surgery this April. If he gave up his job at that point, he 'd may be survived up to now. His responsibility was so much to Okinawa. He was an one of the most powerful gorveronor in Okinawan history. He was a member of Liberal Democratic Party(LDP) which is the biggest political party in Japan. Priminister Abe is the top of LDP. However, when Mr. Onaga saw how Japanese goverment treat Okinawa, He decided to leave from LDP. And Mr. Onaga ran for Okinawa governor and He was elected.
